Aston Villa manager Martin O'Neill has praised his side for a 'terrific' win over Hull City in the Premier League on Wednesday night.

Goals to Gabriel Agbonlahor and James Milner did the damage for the Villains and O'Neill was extremely pleased with the way his side played, especially as Hull had plenty to play for in an attempt to get out of the drop zone.

"I thought considering the circumstances it was a terrific win for us," he told Sky Sports.

"I knew that Hull would have a go as well as the points were important to both of us, and we played well enough to have won the game.

"When we got the two-goal advantage we were in reasonable control of the game but I always thought Hull would cause us a problem and there was a period just after half-time when they put us under some pressure.

"But we weathered that and I think we unquestionably deserved to win the game."
