Garry O'Connor is back with Birmingham after Barnsley admitted defeat in their attempts to retain the striker on loan. Tykes boss Mark Robins was hoping to hang on to the 27-year-old Scotland international after he made four Championship starts in his month-long stay at Oakwell, scoring in the 5-2 win over Leeds United.
However, the south Yorkshire outfit are working on a limited budget and have consequently decided to send O'Connor back to St Andrew's, even though Blues boss Alex McLeish would have been happy for him to stay.
