PEC Zwolle ran away with the 2014 KNVB Beker (Dutch Cup) with a 5-1 hammering of Dutch powerhouse Ajax on Sunday.
A major contributor in the Bluefingers' triumph was New Zealand teenager Ryan Thomas who netted a brace at the Stadion Feyenoord in Rotterdam.
The 19-year old attacking midfielder cancelled out Ricardo van Rhijn's early opener with a deflected effort in the eighth minute before edging Zwolle ahead in the 12th minute when firing home after a free-kick had crashed into the upright.
Those two goals set the scene for the rest of the encounter with Guyon Fernandez netting a brace before the break prior to Bram van Polen's 50th-minute goal which gave PEC a dream win over Holland's most successful club.
In the wake of his match-winning performance, Thomas was in dreamland after helping guide Zwolle to their first ever Dutch cup.
"We hoped to catch them out with a sneaky win like 2-1, but 5-1 ...nobody expected that," Thomas told Dutch reporters.
"Everyone is really happy for me back home. It's been a fantastic first season for me in Zwolle and this has been a great way to finish the year."
