Rory Fallon is hoping he and his Aberdeen teammates can taste success in this season's Scottish Cup competition.

The New Zealand striker, who put his nation into the 2010 World Cup with a qualifying goal against Bahrain, is preparing for Saturday's semi-final with Hibernian at Hampden Park and is desperate to first make it to the decider before lifting the trophy which would be his first piece of silverware in his career.

"The only luck I have enjoyed in my career so far was scoring the goal which took New Zealand to the World Cup," said Fallon.

"After that my life changed dramatically. I had been a complete unknown in New Zealand, but the goal meant everyone knew who I was.

"But I still haven't won anything in my career and the Scottish Cup would be a brilliant way to break my duck, given its history.

"It would mean a lot to play in the semi-final against Hibs as I respond well to pressure and usually pull it out in the big games."

And Fallon knows that if the Dons were to be successful in the cup, it would just add to the great history of the club, mainly under the great Sir Alex Ferguson.

"Any Aberdeen team will always be compared to the one that won the European trophies and so many domestic honours under Alex Ferguson," he added.

"I don't know if what they did will ever be achieved again because of the way football's moved on, but to win something with Aberdeen now would be brilliant."
