New York Red Bulls general manager Erik Soler is determined to keep veteran goalkeeper Frank Rost at the club past this season.
The Red Bulls signed the 38-year old German from Hamburg SV in July and Soler is hoping he can keep him past the 2011 season without using a Designated Player spot.
"We'll look into what we can do, and how we can do it. We'd like to keep him, he wants to stay, and now we'll see how we can work it out and if we can have him here as one or the other,'' said Soler.
"No," was Soler's response when asked if a DP slot would make the deal happen.
"We hope we can work it out so he can be here regardless. He's not here to make money, to put it that way. He's here to enjoy his game and he's been a very sensible player. He could've played other places. He makes good money here as well.''
