New York Red Bull head coach Mike Petke admits he would like to have Robbie Rogers playing for him at The Red Bull Arena.
The 25-year old winger is seeking a comeback to the game after retiring in February after revealing to the public that he is gay.
As Rogers' future is being heavily linked with either LA Galaxy of Chicago Fire, who hold first refusal to his rights, Petke says he would be open to the former Columbus Crew and Leeds United man coming to New York.
"I'm pretty angry we didn't get the lead he was coming back, because I would've loved to have had him in practice with us and speaking about the Red Bulls the way he's speaking about LA," Petke said.
"He's a phenomenal person. I think any team who lands him - whether its LA, or he goes back to Chicago or (we get him) - will get a good player."
