NYRB's Petke happy to be sitting equal first in the East

New York Red Bulls head coach Mike Petke was not really all that pleased with his side's 0-0 draw with Philadelphia Union on the weekend.

The Red Bulls bossed possession at home but could not land the killer blow that would have put them outright top in the Eastern Conference, instead settling for equal first with Sporting Kansas City.

After the match, Petke spoke of the gruelling nature of the match that keeps his side in with a realistic chance of ending the regular season top of the conference.

"Very frustrating; I think moments were good," he said.

"I know we out-possessed them something like 65% or something like that, but besides the end I'm not sure how many shots we had on goal but we didn't do enough to win. We had moments, we had a lot of moments actually where it was good but overall we couldn't find a way.

"Yeah, of course, I feel like we're in first place. I'm a bit emotionally drained after the game, it was a long day preparing for the game, guys were up for it, the line-up was great and it's like an opera you know, being played out. Yeah, we're tied for first place right now, I'm happy with that. I'm not happy with the result tonight, but it's a point. We'll take it."
