New York Red Bulls midfielder Dax McCarty implored Chicago Fire rookie Harry Shipp to act a little more humbly in the future.
The 22-year old forward scored a hat-trick on the weekend as the Fire recorded their first win of the 2014 season with a thrilling 5-4 result over the Red Bulls.
After the match, Shipp placed a post on his Twitter page saying: "Sorry to ruin your evening Red Bull fans :/ I'll try to be more courteous next time. Huge 1st win of the season. Rolling from here #cf97."
It appears that the post was later removed but not before McCarty responded with the following:
@championShipp11 Congrats on your first win of the season. Staying humble will take you a long way in this league. #thenextmessi#stayclassy

Which prompted Shipp to back track on his initial statement.
lol people, CLEARLY was jokin in the tweet last night...grittiness and last ditch defending by 11 guys at the end is what won us the game.

Shipp opened the scoring at Red Bull Arena in the fourth minute before Tim Cahill replied within two minutes for the home team. Bradley Wright-Phillips then edged New York in front late in the first half prior to Quincy Amarikwa's leveller four minutes into the second half.
Shipp then netted twice in five minutes to complete his hat-trick before Patrick Nyarko gave the Fire a 5-2 lead in the 64th minute. The Red Bulls pulled two goals back in the final 25 minutes, both from Wright-Phillips, but it wasn't enough as Shipp's treble gave Chicago a season-first victory.
