NYRB's Agudelo making positive recovery from injury, Conde getting fitter

New York Red Bulls' pre-season has been boosted by news that Juan Agudelo is back from injury and new signing Wilman Conde is closing in on full fitness.

19-year old forward Agudelo has recently been sidelined by an ankle injury but returned to training last week and managed to get in some minutes during a trial match on the club's pre-season camp in Mexico.

"We're very happy (with Agudelo),'' said assistant coach Jan Halvor Halvorsen.

"We didn't think he could play anything in Mexico because of his injury. But he has done well the last four or five days in the camp ion the training, he didn't feel anything, and the medical staff said he could play 20 minutes in the last game. So we were very happy with that. So he's back from the injury.''

Meanwhile, off-season addition Conde, who joined from Atlas, should be available for the Red Bulls' season opener at FC Dallas on March 11.

"We just had a test and Conde joined in the last couple of trainings in Mexico, and played a little bit with the team and has been working very hard physically. That's very good. Hopefully now for the next camp he will join in a little bit in one of the games,'' added Halvorsen.

"Yeah, I hope so. It's (the season opener) still three, a little bit over three weeks away. I think now when we get to the next camp, he will join in to play more and more as a central defender. He's very experienced. He doesn't need so much time to get back. We will see now he will move forward all the time.''
