New York Red Bulls have upgraded Bradley Wright-Phillips to a Designated Player contract.
The 29-year old striker has been rewarded for winning the 2014 MLS Golden Boot by stepping into the marquee role vacated by the departing Thierry Henry.
Former Southampton, Manchester City and Charlton Athletic forward Wright-Phillips equaled the MLS regular season record of 27 goals during the 2014 campaign as the Red Bulls made it through to the Eastern Conference final.
Of the new deal, New York's sporting director Andy Roxburgh said: "Following his outstanding performances in 2014, which produced 31 goals in all competitions, the club has decided to make Bradley Wright-Phillips a MLS Designated Player.
"Bradley is not only a prolific goalscorer, he is an excellent professional and a great team player who will be a big asset to the club in the coming seasons."
