New York Red Bulls head coach Hans Backe admits his players need to become more physical n order to succeed in MLS.
The star-studded squad endured a frustrating 2011 season and Backe puts it down to the fact that although the playing group have enough flair and technique, it is an increase in toughness that is required.
"I'd say we need to do changes, that's for sure. We need to get more physical strength into the team,'' Backe said.
"We were a bit naïve, thinking we could play a possession-minded game with technical players.
"With the physical game, you need to be so much better than the other team to control games with possession and have an end product with it.
"We need physical strength for next year definitely."
