New York Red Bull general manager Erik Soler has made it clear that the club will not rush into the purchase of a third Designated Player.
The Red Bull Arena is already the home to star players Thierry Henry and Rafael Marquez and there has been plenty of talk about bringing in a third big name with Michael Ballack and Stephen Ireland heavily linked.
Last week, Soler ruled out the possibility of signing former Chelsea and Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Ballack whilst playing coy on Aston Villa's Ireland but was remaining calm regarding a third DP arriving anytime soon.
"But we are not closing in on anybody specific at this moment.""We have different options, [we are looking] at different things," he said.
