Juninho Pernambucano has already won plenty of national championships throughout his career so he is not about to settle for anything less now he is with New York Red Bull.
The 38-year old Brazilian midfielder has been vastly successful with the likes of Vasco da Gama, Lyon and Al-Gharafa over his near two-decade career and he is planning to continue that trend with the Red Bulls in 2013.
"I'm beginning the 20th year of my career, and I want to do now the same as I've done in my first 19, which is to do my very best to help the teams I played for win titles,'' Juninho told the NY Post through an interpreter.
"I've had a very successful career, and I expect (that) to continue with the Red Bulls as well."
Of how his MLS move came about, Juninho added: "I spent ten years outside Brazil, and went back to Vasco da Gama. I didn't expect to have the opportunity to work for MLS. I went back to Brazil, played a year-and-a-half, played 70 games. While I was in Brazil, Gerard Houllier (head of global soccer for Red Bull) - who was my coach twice - saw me play.
"He got in touch with my agent and proposed a two-year contract. I called him and asked how was the team. They invited me to come here in December to get to know the team.
"I have three daughters and this represents a new challenge for me. I began my career in South America; I expect to finish my career here in the United States. When the opportunity arose, I thought it was a great opportunity."
