New York Red Bull head coach Mike Petke will soon make a decision on the signing of Peguy Luyindula.
The 33-year old former Paris Saint-Germain, Lyon and Marseille striker has been on trial with the Red Bulls this offseason and has made three appearances in the Desert Diamond Cup competition.
Petke admitted that Luyindula was not at a great level of fitness and insisted a decision on a contract would be made some time this week.
"He's not in his ideal shape right now," Petke said. "He's admitted that. [But] you see little things every day."
Luyindula has been without a club after he mutually agreed to terminate his deal with PSG last month and has joined former France teammate Thierry Henry and Lyon colleague Juninho at Red Bull Arena.
