Dax McCarty has implored his New York Red Bulls teammates to change the way they play.
The Red Bulls have lost their past four MLS fixtures to fall to seventh spot on the Eastern Conference table and ahead of Wednesday night's meeting with Real Salt Lake, midfielder McCarty wants things to drastically improve.
"Our mindset has to change from 'play well and try to win and hope we win' to 'screw it,'" he told MLSsoccer.com.
"If we have to play like bastards, if we have to play cynical, if we have to kick people, if we have to be physical, if we have to get up in guys' faces, then we need to change that."
While the Red Bulls have not been struggling to create chances in their five-game winless run, the end results have simply not been present and McCarty wants that negative run to stop.
"We need to get rid of the mentality that [just because] we're outplaying teams that it's good enough," he added.
"It's not good enough. If you want to outplay a team and points don't come out of it, then it doesn't really mean anything."
