New York City FC head coach Jason Kreis was grateful to Manchester City for the opportunity he was given to see the club from the inner sanctum recently.
City's ownership of the MLS expansion franchise has allowed Kreis to work closely with manager Manuel Pellegrini and Patrick Vieira, who manages the club's reserves side (Elite Development Squad), and the experience was something that the former Real Salt Lake boss will look back on with fondness.
"I've been working in and around everything there," he told Sports Illustrated.
"There's so much that goes on in a club like that. It's not just what happens on the field on a day-in, day-out basis. There's methodology meetings, there's the medical side of things, there's performance analysis, there's so much that goes on in a club like that.
"The stuff that I've really tried to focus on is the on-field stuff of course. I've been working with the first team. Manuel's been terrific and has allowed me to be out there for every single training session and be involved in some of the meetings. "Also been working with Patrick Vieira, everybody knows who Patrick Vieira is, but he's a pretty young coach. He's only been coaching now for about a year-and-a-half.
"I've been involved in all of his stuff with the (Under) 21s so it's been an all-encompassing experience for us both personally and professionally, it's been fantastic."
