MLS hopefuls New York Cosmos have managed to add Hunter Freeman to their roster ahead of the 2013 North American Soccer League season.
The 28-year old defender, who has MLS experience with Colorado Rapids, New York Red Bull, Toronto FC and Houston Dynamo, has signed with the Cosmos despite plenty of interest from New England Revolution who picked up his rights in the Re-Entry Draft in December.
"The chance to play in New York City was too good of an opportunity to pass up," Freeman said in a Cosmos club statement.
"I am excited to be a part of this project and help deliver the Cosmos back to the top of American soccer."
Freeman, who has also played in Sweden with IK Start, becomes another product of MLS to join the Cosmos following former Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Kyle Reynish and ex-Red Bulls and Columbus Crew defender Carlos Mendes.
