NY Cosmos planning soccer-specific stadium at Belmont Park

New York Cosmos owners are planning the development of a 25,000-soccer specific stadium at Belmont Park.

ThisIsCosmosCountry has revealed that an official letter has been submitted to the Empire State Development Corporation (ESD) regarding the facility which will cost around $400million of privately-funded money.

Cosmos officials are believed to be considering proposals to build on 28 acres of the Belmont Racetrack property.

The Cosmos are looking to become MLS' 20th club, as they prepare for their North American Soccer League debut this year, but the fact that North America's domestic league wants them in Flushing Meadows and they want to be in Belmont suggests that things have changed in regards to which competition they end up in.
