The reformed New York Cosmos franchise has had a change in ownership this week following the departure of former consortium leader Paul Kemsley.
The ex-Tottenham director left his post as Cosmos Chairman recently and it was believed that a buyout from Saudi Arabian company Sela Sport was set to go forward.
Now the Cosmos have confirmed a buyout, although they didn't state who exactly had purchased the rights to the club, whilst reiterating their desire to become the 20th MLS franchise.
"There has been a buyout at The New York Cosmos and management changes have taken place in various areas of our organization,'' the Cosmos said in a press release.
"This also results in a full restructure of both our business and staffing, which will continue to be assessed by the new leadership team that is expected to be appointed within the next 60 days.
"It is unequivocally the goal of the current ownership to become an MLS team in the most expedient manner possible, and decisions for the club will be made with this in mind."
