FC Nurnberg have been dealt a blow with news that defender Timmy Chandler has suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee.

The 23-year old USA international sustained the injury early in the weekend’s 2-0 loss to Bayern Munich and will now undergo surgery on Monday which is likely to keep him out of action for up to ten weeks.

The injury will see Chandler sidelined until April which surely has placed a massive question mark over his chances of forcing his way into Juergen Klinsmann’s World Cup squad.
