Nuremberg's Perchtold holding talks with Gold Coast United

FC Nuremberg midfielder Peter Perchtold is in Australia to hold talks with A-League club Gold Coast United.

The 26-year old German trained with United today after arriving from his homeland and prior to the session spoke about his and the club's plans for a potential guest stint.

I'm here to gather as much information as I can and so far I'm very happy with what I've seen and heard. "We will see how training goes, etc, and if the coach likes me and I like the city then we will see what happens," said Perchtold.

"I was a very unsettled at Nuremberg so I thought a big change would be good for me. I've spoken to a few clubs and I feel I'm ready to make a move.

"Nuremberg are looking to let me go and I want to leave, so I don't think there will be any problems with that. They aren't looking for a transfer fee which is good for Gold Coast United, so it's a win-win situation hopefully."

Perchtold, who spent about three seasons with VfB Stuttgart, said he had heard good things about Australia and was looking forward to spending some more time down under.

"It's my first time in Australia and I've come here with an open mind. I know a few Australians, like Dario Vidosic and Matthew Spiranovic from Nuremberg and I also know Thomas Broich who is now a top player with Brisbane and they all said good things about Australia," he added.

"Thomas (Broich) has had some good games for Brisbane and is a big name in the league now. I think I am able to do that also if everything goes well.

"My first impressions were all very positive and of course I noticed the hot weather straight away. There's about a forty-degree difference in temperature from what I left behind in Germany. It was minus ten degrees there and snow everywhere, so it was quite a difference. It would be harder though to go from heat to cold, so it's not too bad.

"The Gold Coast is a very famous place and I spoke to people in Germany who had been here and they all liked it. Everything I've seen so far has been very beautiful."
