David Nugent says he turned down Derby this summer because he regards Portsmouth as a bigger club.

Nugent said: "Billy Davies knows me and has bought me before. I did speak to him briefly on the phone but I said 'To be honest, I'm looking for a bigger club to further my career'.

"He told me 'I know where you are coming from'. And that's just the way it goes."
