North Queensland Fury left-back Chris Tadrosse has rated last night's 2-1 win over Newcastle Jets as the highlight of the year.
The Fury needed a win to stay in contention for a finals berth in their first season in the A-League and it did not look good when Jets skipper Matt Thompson scored in the 19th minute but the Townsville-based side rallied, forced an equaliser through Chris Grossman then pulled out a stunning winner, scored by Tadrosse, with ten minutes remaining.
The 24-year old was beaming after the match, saying it was the perfect answer to all the negative media coverage the club had received over the past week or so.
''Personally I think (the win) is the highlight of the year ... and to get the goal was just a little bonus on top,'' the defender said.
''We had a lot of media attention last week for things to do with off the field, but I think we bounced back well on the field.
''We proved tonight we can play against any team in this comp.''
Tadrosse's brilliant volley from a Terry Cooke cross was his first A-League goal and he couldn't have timed it better as the Fury moved to eighth on the table and are now just five points out of the top six.
