North Queensland Fury coach Ian Ferguson is confident of landing a second major coup, this time with Scott Chipperfield. After already securing the prized signature of former Liverpool star Robbie Fowler, the new A-League franchise has their sights set on the Socceroos defender.
Currently playing in Switzerland with FC Basel, Chipperfield has often spoken about a return home and this could be the perfect opportunity.
Ferguson said he is happy with the way things are going in their bid for the 33-year olds services.
"I'm reasonably happy with how negotiations went and I'm reasonably happy with the feedback I'm getting, but I've had players before say they would come and have them disappear off the radar at the last minute," he said.
"But Scott's an honest boy and open with his beliefs with where he wants to be with his career.
"I think the A-League would be fantastic for him at this time of his career."
