Nth Qld coach Ferguson: We are just unlucky

North Queensland Fury coach Ian Ferguson says his training techniques are not to blame following another season-ending knee injury.

After the injury sustained by Shane Stefanutto in round 9, Scottish import Scott Wilson will now miss the remainder of the season after hurting his knee on the weekend.

The Fury will now undergo a search to find a replacement defender but Ferguson insist training techniques are not to blame.

"ACLs are just awkward things - it's how you land," he said.

"Shane's one just didn't look like there was anything in that one at all, and all of a sudden you can't do anything about that in training.

"That's just something that happens.

"Unfortunately for players it's their worst nightmare," he added.

"The boys will [rehabilitate] them and get them back as soon as we can.

"They've got to be mentally and physically strong to get through this in the next eight or nine months."
