Nth Qld coach Ferguson: We are getting stronger

North Queensland Fury coach Ian Ferguson always had faith that the team would eventually find form. Following a poor start to the beginning of their A-League career, the Fury took six games to notch up a win but have improved every week and now the former Rangers midfielder is eyeing bigger and better things.

"I always knew we'd change things around because I watched the guys at training and knew we'd get stronger and better when players came in," Ferguson said.

"Our pre-season was poor. We had too many players coming and going and others coming late and this created a lot of uncertainty.

"I took too many kids on just to get through games and we had too many trials. Next time I'll make sure every person on the roster is in before any ball is kicked. That has been a big learning curve for me.

"But we have got our game together now. We lost our first three games but it was only Gold Coast (5-0) that we were terrible and deservedly got our bums kicked.

"We could so easily have got a point from each of the two games against Sydney (3-2) and Melbourne (0-1). Now we are unbeaten in three games.

"But despite the initial drawbacks morale has always been good. The boys stood up to be counted and they understood all the pressure and criticism thrown at them.

"But the way they reacted was the biggest plus for me."

North Queensland take on Wellington Phoenix at Westpac Stadium this Sunday afternoon.
