North Queensland Fury coach Ian Ferguson has stressed the importance of backing up midweek after their solid 1-0 victory over Perth Glory on Friday night.

The Fury take on state rivals the Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium this Wednesday in a round 19 midweek game – (all round 19 matches will be played on Wednesday nights through December and January) – and Ferguson has urged his players to push on from their dominant effort against the Glory.

''It's massive, we've got another game on Wednesday night and it's going to be a huge game for us,'' said Ferguson.

''If we do well and get a good result, I think we could be sitting in joint fourth place. It could all be pretty positive.''

Ferguson said it was a relief to get three points on Friday night and the win has provided a massive boost for everybody around the club, especially after a 4-1 loss to Sydney FC in round 17.

''I think that's the biggest thing this week, getting a clean sheet was really positive and also getting the 1-nil win was also really good,'' Ferguson said.

''Getting the points in the bank is a massive boost for everybody.

''The way we bounced back against Perth in the first half was fantastic,'' he added.

''It's been a good turnaround from the boys, they've all been pretty positive.

''We still knew that even though we were getting a bit of stick for the Sydney game - in that game we never played as well as what we can and we know that.

''That's the good thing about these boys, we picked it up again, never put our heads down, we just went back to the training ground and worked really hard and got their deserves.''
