North Queensland Fury chairman Don Matheson believes Robbie Fowler has already proved the critics wrong. After a poor start to the season for the new club, the Fury have turned their fortunes around in the past three weeks, mainly due to the good form of marquee man Fowler.
The ex-Liverpool star has netted in each of his past three outings, with every goal being a class above the rest, and Matheson said he not only provides goals but is a great leader and marketing tool.
"Mate, he's been fantastic," Matheson said.
"A lot of people reckoned he was always injured, wouldn't be interested or would struggle to cope with the heat.
"He's not just a great player, he is a leader and he has really helped lift our profile locally and also in the rest of the country.
"Look at the crowd Sydney got the other night - a lot of people wanted to come to see him.''
