Novellino tells Torino fans: Blame me

Torino coach Walter Novellino has told fans to vent their anger on him after yesterday's 1-0 defeat by AC Milan.

Alexandre Pato struck the winner for Milan to condemn Torino to a third consecutive defeat and Novellino said: "It could have gone better.

"The team played, but after the goal we lost our unity. It's a shame because over the past two games we deserved better. Our tactics held Milan out for the most part.

"I am sorry because we do not deserve the defeat and did react to the Cagliari loss. If you go three weekends without scoring, it becomes a problem.

"I am convinced we'll get back on track because it is not possible to keep losing when you play this well.

"It is an unlucky period of my career. Our position in the table is not reassuring, but this is the reality. We must go to Catania next and play for the victory without fear."

Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti said: "I liked the way Milan played today and we slowly got into the game.

"It was an important match and an equally important victory. We struggled to break the deadlock and had several chances with Gilardino, Alexandre Pato and Clarence Seedorf.

"We had to win today at all costs. We must focus on our own path but also those in front of us, as Fiorentina also won."
