Novara President Carlo Accornero was beaming after their 2-2 draw with Chievo Verona on Sunday.
It was their first Serie A point in 55 years, with a come-from-behind 2-2 draw at Chievo.
Accornero said: "We are happy to have a Coach of Tesser's class, plus the exceptional staff created by [sporting director] Mauro Perderzoli, who has brought in motivated players.
"Tesser as Ferguson? This statement is not wrong.
"The strength of this team's force is in the group, and the comeback gives us great comfort for the championship.
"I'm sorry we could not have our debut as scheduled in Week 1 against Palermo, because it would have been another good party.
"We have adapted the ground working day and night since June and it would have been a great reward for those committed."
