Notts Forest boss has reservations over management by committee

Nottingham Forest boss Billy Davies has questioned the role of the club's 'acquisitions committee' which he feels undermines his position at the City Ground. The Scot claims the board are reluctant to grant him sole responsibility for transfer dealings.

He also feels the presence of former Tottenham boss David Pleat as a 'special football advisor' makes his job all the more demanding.

He said in The Sun: "The way I see it is quite simple. The manager should always have the final say on transfers and nobody else, whatever their previous pedigree in the game.

"When you boil it all down, people like myself are the ones in the spotlight. Depending on results, we get a pat on the back or we get the sack.

"I don't believe there should be such a creature as a so-called acquisitions committee at this club or any club. It just delays me in my work, and can also lead to obvious confusion when trying to bring in new players.

"And there's another dimension to all this - as things stand I don't even have a single clue as to what my budget might be for when the window opens. Is it £1million, £3m or £5m?

"Perhaps I'm kidding myself, perhaps it's nothing. But it would be very helpful to know."
