Notts County want Cotterill as boss long term

Notts County chief executive Jim Rodwell wants to extend Steve Cotterill's contract as manager. Cotterill was last month appointed on a deal until the end of the season but has impressed the League Two club's new owners by making an unbeaten start to his Meadow Lane reign.

With 17 points from a possible 21, Notts have soared into second spot and automatic promotion contention from seventh place in the table.

Rodwell said: "Seeing him at work in the past four or five weeks, he is an even better manager than we thought he was so clearly we want to keep hold of him for the long-term.

"We have not gone into specifics with him over the length of any deal. A lot has got to happen before we get to that stage. We have got to make it an attractive proposition to him.

"He is a very good manager and he has done very well since he has been here. He is so hard-working and so dedicated and committed to his job and to giving his all to the club."
