Notts County striker refused work permit for New York move

Luke Rodgers is set to stay at Notts County after his move to MLS side New York Red Bulls collapsed because he could not obtain a work permit. County boss Steve Cotterill said: "I think he was embarrassed that he hadn't gone, but I'm glad he's not going because he's scored important goals for us."

Cotterill believes the 28 year old could still join the Red Bulls in the summer if he is granted a work permit.

He added: "I think they are still interested in signing him in the summer and he would obviously go with my blessing, but we won't know the answer to that for another four weeks."
