Notts County striker Luke Rodgers will not be able to sign with MLS club New York Red Bulls for the time being after he was not permitted a working visa.
The 28-year old has a conviction for affray in the UK and has not been granted a work permit meaning his potential move to New York may not go ahead before Thursday's deadline.
Rodgers spent seven weeks playing under Red Bulls coach Hans Backe at Notts County last year and it looked as though he would team up with the Swede at Red Bull Arena but his conviction has seemed to have marred that.
