Notts County move for Sheffield Wednesday rebel Jeffers

Former Everton and Arsenal striker Francis Jeffers is being lined up for a move to Notts County.

The Mirror says Notts County are poised to rescue former England star Jeffers from his Sheffield Wednesday nightmare.

Jeffers has been frozen out at Hillsborough this season and is desperate to find a new club when the transfer window reopens.

The former Arsenal, Everton and Blackburn striker was placed on the transfer list in September after being sent off for headbutting in a Carling Cup tie at Port Vale.

He has made just one appearance since and has no future at the Championship club. County boss Hans Backe wants to strengthen his attacking options in the transfer window and is considering offering Jeffers a short-term deal until the end of the season.
