League Two outfit Notts County are believed to be on the verge of making a shock play for ex-England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson.

The club was taken over by Arab consortium Munto Finance last week and they are already showing they are ambitious in their pursuit of the Swede who has also had recent stints at Manchester City and with the Mexico national team.

It is unlikely Eriksson will entertain the thought after being involved with high-profile clubs and nations for much of his managerial career.
