Nottingham's Gunter wants third spot for Wales

Chris Gunter feels Wales are good enough to finish third in their Euro2012 qualifying group.

The Dragons have made great inroads recently with two wins from their last three outings and although they cannot qualify for next summer's final in Poland and Ukraine, the Nottingham Forest full-back wants to end the group stage on a high note with a win over Bulgaria in Sofia.

"You've seen the difference in the squad," Gunter told the South Wales Argus.

"We were coming off the back of two good performances and we looked a really good team against Switzerland.

"After losing the first few games finishing third would be great. It would be nice to finish well and carry that momentum forward.

"We've got a way of playing in competitive games now and in 11 months' time these fixtures under Gary (Speed) will prove really important.

"We had to go through some disappointing results but we are on the right track.

"We've got a system now and I don't think that will change too much in the future.

"The more you play together you develop your roles and that will only get stronger in the future."
