Players and supporters from Nottingham Forest have launched a campaign to help get Eric Lichaj a dog after the defender claimed that he had fallen one goal short of earning a pet during his clubs shock FA Cup win over Arsenal.
The American, who has been on the books of Forest since 2013, scored a brace during his clubs 4-2 win over the Gunners on Sunday and claimed that his wife had promised a dog if he scored a hat-rick this season.
Lichaj posted on Twitter on Monday: "anyone who is bored" to send "dog pics, memes, gifs" to @KatPerko - his wife's Twitter handle - and plenty of users joined in using the hashtag #GetEricADog.
Team-mate Kieran Dowell who converted a penalty to score Forest's fourth responded by posting a GIF of a beagle flying on a magic carpet.
Other team-mates including Ben Brereton, Zach Clough, Joe Worall and Matty Cash also posted dog-related videos on Monday.
