Not just Auba? Arsenal challenge Barcelona for Schalke rebel Meyer

Arsenal's buying may not be over today after their deal for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

BILD says the Gunners are weighing up a Deadline Day swoop for Schalke's contract rebel Max Meyer.

The 22-year-old's current deal at the Veltins-Arena expires in the summer and Arsene Wenger could bring him to the Emirates in a cut-price move.

The Gunners face competition from La Liga leaders Barcelona for the signature of the attacking midfielder, who can also play up front.

And Schalke appear resigned to lose Meyer either before the window shuts, or an a free transfer at the end of the season.

The four-cap German international shows no signs of agreeing a new deal with Domenico Tedesco's men, leading to the Bundesliga side to contemplate shipping him out later today.
