Norwich and former Manchester United striker Dion Dublin has admitted that he is gradually coming to terms with the idea of no longer playing professional football.
Dublin played his last game at Carrow Road on Saturday as the Canaries secured their Championship status with a 3-0 win over QPR and will retire after Sunday's trip to Sheffield Wednesday.
He said: "After a 20-year career, it will seem strange not running over that white line again but I have been doing it for more years than I care to remember, it's something I've got to accept now. I've made my decision and there's now way I'll be changing my mind.
"In a way, this is a good way to bow out. At the age of 39 and still being wanted.
"It was a special day for me and I'm just glad that we have got the three points we needed to ensure safety. It wouldn't have been the same if we hadn't won the game."
