Norwich striker Holt pushes for England Euro place

Grant Holt has scored 12 goals for Norwich City in his first ever top-flight campaign, is hopeful he could yet win his first cap at the age of 30. The Canaries skipper does not believe playing for one of the smaller teams in the Premier League should impact on his chances, saying: "I would hope that isn't the case.

"It doesn't matter who you play for if you get the opportunity to play for your country. Look at Steve Bull when he was at Wolves or Nug (David Nugent ) when he was at Preston. If I can keep performing for Norwich, we'll wait and see.

"You look at Danny Graham and how many goals he has scored this year so there is different options and if they want to take a target man I am certainly ready to go.

"I don't wait with the phone next to my ear whenever a squad is announced, but it's always the dream to play for your country and if that came up it would be absolutely fantastic.

"I can only do what I do, which is scoring the goals for Norwich. Let other people talk about it. Whoever got the (manager's) job, I can only score my goals and they have to take notice of it.

"People are harping on about I am the second-highest English goalscorer, so if it goes on goals I would be there."
