Norwich City skipper Russell Martin insists fans should not question their "desire" after defeat to West Bromwich Albion.
The result has cost manager Chris Hughton his job.
Martin told the Pink 'Un: "It is frustrating. There is no lack of desire or effort. People can talk about that, but no chance - you can't question it. The lads are doing everything they can. They are shattered in there. We just lacked the quality. It's as simple as that.
"If you question the desire and commitment, you are wrong and I'll have a conversation with anyone about it because the lads are devastated in there. We have to pick ourselves up. We haven't shown enough quality in the final third a lot this season. This was the same story. We need to work that one out quickly."
