Norwich City are set to make a £2million bid for Fiorentina's Marcos Alonso.

The recently promoted Canaries have given up hope of signing Republic of Ireland winger Robbie Brady from Hull City and are now pursuing the Spanish full-back.

Norwich have this summer signed Graham Dorrans and Youssouf Mulumbu in an attempt to avoid being relegated back to the Championship.

Boss Alex Neil is looking to strengthen his defence in advance of their first Premier League match at home to Crystal Palace, especially with Martin Olsson out with injury.

Alonso has previous Premier League experience at Bolton Wanderers and while on loan at Sunderland, and is reportedly keen to return to England's top flight.
