Norwich go over the top against eager season ticket holder

Norwich City have been forced into an embarrassing climbdown in a battle with a teenage fan.

The Daly Mail says season ticket-holder Chris Brown, who lives in the city and has followed Norwich home and away for five years, leaked pictures of his team's new 2012-13 strip 12 hours before its official launch at Carrow Road on Wednesday.

Norwich phoned him at 4.30am that morning to ask how he had got hold of the images and where he had posted them.

They then asked police to investigate further.

Norfolk police confirmed they had looked into an offence of unauthorised access to computer data after a complaint by the Barclays Premier League club, but the matter will now be settled with a meeting between Mr Brown and Norwich officials.

The teenager's mother, Trish, told the BBC: "I feel Norwich could have handled it better. I feel they could have spoken to Chris and myself and just discussed why he'd done it, asked him a few more questions, before involving the police."

Mr Brown, an IT student, obtained the images of the strip as they were being uploaded to the club's kit-launch website and said he regretted posting them online.

He told the BBC: "I'm sorry for any offence I might have caused the club, but I'd never do anything malicious or spiteful because I do have an interest and love the football club."
