Norwich City are edging closer to landing Nottingham Forest defender Chris Gunter.

The Sun says Canaries boss Paul Lambert hopes to close a £2 million deal for the Welshman.

The 22-year-old Wales full-back started his career at Cardiff and, after a short spell at Tottenham, was picked up by Forest.

Norwich boss Lambert has monitored Gunter's development and believes he has what it takes to be a hit in the Premier League.
