Norwich City insist they did not fail with a bid for Peterborough United striker Craig Mackail-Smith.
Posh chief Barry Fry claimed the striker rejected a move to the Canaries this week.
But Norwich supremo David McNally posted on his Twitter account on Tuesday that City had not returned for the striker since.
"For the record, CMS (Mackail Smith) did not turn down Norwich City, despite what Barry Fry might say," tweeted McNally. "Our interest ended in March."
