Norwich boss Neil: We lost our battles at Southampton

Norwich City boss Alex Neil felt his side were well below their fighting best on Sunday.

The Canaries were beaten 3-0 by the Saints at St Mary's in a contest which saw the visiting team perform without their customary fight, forcing them home without anything to show for their efforts.

Neil was disappointed with the performance of his ten-man Norwich side, who lost Steven Whittaker to a red card in the first half, admitting that they were nowhere near their best which previously allowed them to beat Sunderland and draw with Stoke City.

"I thought we looked too comfortable and didn't move the ball well enough and didn't work hard enough," he said.

"The type of team we are, the way we play, we have got to be up for the battle and I don't think we won our individual battles as well as we normally do.

"I think it is more disappointing in the manner in which we lost the record rather than the record has gone. If my team had played well today and given everything they had got the record wouldn't have bothered me as much."
