Norwich City boss Paul Lambert has praised Wigan Athletic chairman Davie Whelan for his support of Roberto Martinez.
Lambert also praised Wigan chairman Dave Whelan for sticking with manager Martinez despite their lowly league position.
"Football is a harsh game at times and obviously [Chelsea manager] Andre Villas-Boas' departure comes after a lot of pressure in recent weeks, which has been severe for him in certain corners.
"Football is like that. One second you're here, the next second you're not.
"It used to be a result business, although it doesn't seem that way anymore.
"Even where you are winning, if people want you out they are not afraid to change you.
"As I have said before, being a manager is a hard job now and, by recent things, results don't keep you in the job.""The chairman at Wigan seems to be really, really good and he is quite right to back his manager for what he has done," he said.
