Norwich City boss Chris Hughton admits they attempted to sign Swansea City striker Wilfried Zaha.

Ivory Coast international Bony notched his 20th goal for the Swans in Tuesday's Premier League draw at Arsenal and Hughton knows he is the man to stop when they head to the Liberty Stadium.

"He is someone we were aware of. I think he ended up going to Swansea for quite a large fee and at this particularly moment he is doing all he can to justify that figure," said Hughton. "We were aware of the finances around that deal, as we were lots of other players. When you have a scouting network and in particular a European scouting network, it would be a surprise if we were not aware of players doing well abroad.

"He scored a lot of goals last season, but if I look at the players we wanted to target we had already done our work with Ricky well before the summer. He came in if you remember around about March time so we made our decisions quite early in that area."
