Norwich boss Hughton plays down move for ex-Man Utd striker Owen

Norwich City manager Chris Hughton has poured cold water over a potential move for Michael Owen.

The striker is a free agent after being released by Manchester United earlier this summer and has been linked with a number of clubs including Stoke City and Everton.

The latest club to be linked is the Canaries but Hughton suggests he is completely surprised by that rumour.

"Wow. Not that I am aware of," Hughton told reporters. "It is no surprise because at this stage of the window you get linked with lots of names that are not true.

"That is very much a new one to me. It is an area we are looking it to do something but that would have to be the right player."
